Easy Hypnosis Healing

In my work I am often confronted with people of different belief systems. One of the biggest shifts in belief systems comes with the topic of spirituality or religion, and essentially whether or not a person believes in God, and what their specific beliefs are in that area. If I do find out that a person has a belief in metaphysical things, I like to pull out this one tool that has helped me a lot.

It’s called the War Overtangle Prayer by Dr. Judith Swack, and I find that it oftentimes will provide that healing through hypnosis just by saying it.

Now this is a little bit controversial because some people don’t think religion has anything to do with hypnosis, and I would tend to agree, -but- belief systems have everything to do with hypnosis, and what you are doing here is believing something so fully that it becomes true. If you have the spiritual beliefs that other things will happen, then that is what this is designed to use and to nurture.

Ultimately this is something that I have found has worked very well for my hypnosis clients, and I use it myself as well. If you are the type of person who is skeptic then just skip to the next post, but I decided to post it for those who will use it,  because it’s a very valuable tool and more than anything– it works.

Here is the prayer that is said out loud:

I ask my angels and guides to please gather up all overtangle material,
and all dark-side entities,
and everything they feed on,
and everything they attach to,
In a net of holy light.
In a net of radiant light.
And haul them off to the light,
and fill me in with healthy tissue
all the way out to my skin
and to the boundaries of my energy field.
And I ask my angels and guides to please escort me safely and protect me
throughout the rest of this lifetime
and all subsequent lifetimes so that I will never again catch another overtangle.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
It is done, it is done, it is done.

Now one of the keys to making this work is emphasizing the words and really believing what you are saying. Probably the most important idea is at the end when you are thanking the angels and the guides, and you are proclaiming to the world “it is done, it is done, it is done.”  This is the structure of ritual magick as well.

Also note that I purposefully inserted line breaks at the point where you pause for effect. So when you are teaching this to your clients, get those pauses in there, because it makes it more powerful psychologically, which makes the whole technique work better.

Usually I will tell a client to do this prayer once or twice a day. The ideal client will be someone who has religious/spiritual beliefs, and has some issue that they can’t seem to get rid of. Yesterday I gave this script to a male client who was very religious, had tons of anxiety, and wanted to get better with women (one of my specialties is working with this type of client). I decided to give it to him when he mentioned praying, because a prayer is something that he does all the time anyway, and it’s already got a ton of energy and belief built around it that I can utilize to make the hypnosis that much more powerful.

You might be surprised that this is really easy hypnosis healing just through saying a few words out loud — Try it out and let me know what you think in the comments.

Deconstructing Personality Test Types

Hey everyone,

Recently I’ve been very interested in the area of determining personality test types and classifying both myself and other people into groups. I have studied personality before, starting back in Middle School when they gave me this test that apparently said I was to be put on an accelerated track. Among other things, they would recite a long string of numbers to me and I would have to read them back to them in reverse order (no paper or anything) — I’ve since found out this is pretty much entirely a visual function.

Anyway, at that time I was also introduced to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which most of you have probably heard of since it is pretty familiar. However what most people don’t know is that there are many more different sorters of personality and that while the MBTI usually a realistic and accurate description of a given personality type, there are definitely other sorters as well!

For example, a shoot-off from the Myers-Briggs is a branch of Psychology called Socionics. Socionics is based on Carl Jung’s work on Personality Test Types, Sigmund Freud’s work, and Antoni Kepinski’s Theory of Information Metabolism. It is based on the idea that we all have “psychological functions” and that if we chain or interlink these functions in certain ways, it forms a distinct personality profile.

Another great field about personality is the Enneagram. This one I am newer to, but I’ve gained a lot of knowledge on it already. Essentially there are 9 “types” of people, and then you have usually two sub-types that they can have. The Enneagram has been criticized for being too generalized, but I’ve found it already to be a great tool and I’d have to say that those criticisms are probably unwarranted, if you consider that there needs to be some deletion of information to form a cohesive and to-the-point personality model.

Another cool thing that the Enneagram does is that if you know what your primary type is, it will tell you which of the other types you tend to become more like, if you are in a state of growth or a state of stress in your life. When I used it on myself, it was surprisingly accurate!

Now when I got into NLP and especially when I started doing master practitioner level training, I started to learn about something called Metaprograms. In NLP we say that people have certain “programs” or “strategies” that they use in different contexts. Metaprograms are the programs that tend to influence what those programs do. In other words, they are “Meta to” (Meta is a prefix meaning ‘above or about’) the other programs.

What is important about Metaprograms is that they are usually very good ways of predicting behavior, and of determining a person’s personality. Some of the meta programs are Match vs. Mismatch, Options vs. Proceedures, Big chunk vs. Small chunk, and Visual/Auditory/Kinesthetic. Yes, which representational system a person uses is a metaprogram.

And what got me into this recently is that I read a book, which was recommended to me by my friend James Scott, and which I also highly recommend, called “Personality Selling” by Albert J Valentino. This is a -great- book and what it does is combines the information of the meta-programs from NLP and the types from the Enneagram, and mixes them together to tell you -exactly- how to influence a particular person.

Just think, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to communicate with anyone in the way that -they- wish to be communicated with? Sometimes we don’t always get along with other people, but why is that? Usually it is because they are not matching our filters and we are not matching their filters.

What we FEEL is real or what we THINK is real is usually not what is actually there. We have filters in place. We now know that if a person has an experience, that when they go to describe that experience to another person, they will only communicate between 1 and 2 percent of the total information. That’s it!

What is more, they will filter the information in certain predictable ways. That means in order to tell you about these personality types, I am filtering all of the information I know about it into what I think would be most useful to you. Am I right? Leave a comment!

Anyway, in 1957, Noam Chomsky found that there are 3 main ways that we determine reality and that we filter reality through our own perceptions. These three ways are Deletion, Distortion, and Generalization.

Deletion is best illustrated by the famous study in 1972 by George Miller which I call the “Seven Plus or Minus Two” study… and he found that human begins can hold seven plus or minus two bits of information in their conscious awareness at any one time, and if you go beyond that then it gets hard or sometimes even impossible to follow. Have you ever thought about how phone numbers are 7 digits long? What happens is that we delete everything except for that seven plus or minus two.

The other process that we go through is known as Distortion. If you’ve ever walked into a new place that you were going to live and you imagined what the furniture would look like, you were distorting reality! And we have a word for that in hypnosis, it’s called hallucination! Another example is, have you ever heard “creaking noises” late at night and you thought it was a burgular but afterwards you discovered it was just your imagination? It’s distortion again! So we do these things all the time.

The last process that we go through is known as Generalization, and human beings generalize information constantly. When you go to open a door at a place you have never been before, you just assume that the doorknob will be on the right and that you will turn it and the door will open. You also assume there’s something on the other side! Of course without this generalization we would be unable to move through life, so although it does eliminate “data,” it is a wonderful device that we can use.

So lately I’ve been thinking about all of this information, and trying to figure out, how can we use all of this to really determine personality, and how can we use THAT information to help us in working with our clients?

The main use of this that makes sense to me is that you will communicate with the other person in ways that they can understand and in the ways they prefer to be communicated with. In addition to that, if you are working with clients who perhaps have over-generalized beliefs or behaviors, you can use a tool like the NLP Meta Model to deconstruct what is going on, and to de-nominalize their language.

Most of all, it really helps if you know who -you- are and how you tend to react in certain situations. It might help you find which people you are most compatible with in certain situations (both socionics and myers-briggs give charts to show which types you are most compatible with in certain contexts), and it could also help you to find which profession would be most fulfilling for you.

The thing is, you probably already have an idea of what these things would be, but by sharing the experience of others and even joining message boards related to personality, you would have a HUGE advantage. In my coaching programs one of the first things I do is a thorough inventory to determine what motivates a person and what makes them tick as far as personality goes, and these are the tools I use!

I hope this article on personality test types has been of benefit to you, and let me know when you leave a comment, whether it was of great help to you or if you only learned some new tips and techniques.

Getting Quality Followers On Twitter

It seems like every couple of weeks another program or services comes out claiming to increase your followers on Twitter by hundreds or even thousands of people per day. And for many people, having a lot of followers on Twitter is akin to being popular and having your message heard.

In fact there are even advertising services that specifically charge more based on how many followers are being targeted by the message. But is that a realistic estimate? Or are most Twitter followers simply dead in the water and not actually following your message?

Right now on Twitter, I have over 4,000 followers. And by and large, most of these followers I did not “create” myself – in fact if you were to look at my e-mail account, I almost always have a steady stream of new followers each day.

Your Number of Followers Does Not Determine How Successful You Are On Twitter

A mistake that many people make is thinking that the number of followers they have is going to get them the result they wanted out of Twitter. This is simply not the truth. A person could have only 50 followers, but if they communicate with them regularly and if every single one of those 50 followers knows who that person is, then the value of the communication goes way up!

Adding an additional thousand followers to your account who aren’t listening to what you say is not valuable. If you have thousands of people you are following, the stream of traffic will soon become overwhelming and you can only take in so much!

Why People Follow You, and Why You Follow Them

There are many reasons to follow another person on Twitter, but some of the most popular ones include:

  • You know them, or they know you. In other words you’re friends
  • You are already contacts on another social media service such as Facebook
  • You know someone who knows that person
  • You have discovered that person at some point and you are genuinely interested in what they have to say on a particular topic

I know that through my own experience, some people have followed people who have followed me (do you follow?) because they wanted to become friends with my friends. Lets face it, we live in a SOCIAL world, where everybody knows everybody else. If you wanted to meet Donald Trump, you might first make friends with one of his business associates, and you might soon be introduced.

The Reason Spam Is So Valuable On Twitter

If you’ve been on Twitter long enough, you know that people will spam you! And not just by mentioning a product or service, but by literally shoving information down your throat that you didn’t want.

And you know, spam is a great tool, because it shows you who NOT to follow.

Every single day I go through my Twitter account and I do a massive un-following of people. It doesn’t take long to identify the spammers.  And as a result my Twitter feed is a lot cleaner. Now, might those people un-follow you back?  Yes of course, but ask yourself if you really want to be friends with someone like that.

The great news is that most people on Twitter won’t spam you, in fact they are very friendly. They will post lots of links to new articles you might like, and the more social they are, they will post a whole lot of @Replies, which are public replies to a person you are talking to.  So if you wanted to get my attention, just put @TaylorSherman in the message line, and it will appear for me automatically.

Why You Need Quality Followers

Quality followers are those people who ACTUALLY listen to what you have to say. They may ponder your points, they may provide you with great tips if you ask a question, and most importantly, you will develop lasting friendships and sometimes potent business contacts.

I’ve already met several people who I have incorporated into my business JUST through taking the time to reply to them on Twitter and finding out who they were and what we could help each other with. It’s really amazing.

The better quality of the followers you have, the more they will have reasons to promote you to other people, and to Re-Tweet your messages to their own stream of followers. Just today someone  Re-Tweeted an article that I wrote, which led to me actually developing a relationship with that person. So having quality followers is the key to effective networking.

How To Measure The Quality Of Your Followers

There are many metrics that you can use to determine how quality your followers are:

  • How many people do you communicate with on a regular basis on Twitter?
  • Do you use Re-Tweets and @Replies to go back and forth with the person?
  • How many followers actively respond to your questions, or your requests for help?
  • How many of your followers click on the links you put in your tweets?
  • How many direct messaging conversations do you have going on “Behind the Scenes” with fellow Twitter users?

You should have an intuitive idea of how many people follow you, and how many people are actively listening to what you have to say. Does Twitter feel like a “big city” to you, where you are all alone and know no-one?  Or does it feel like an amazingly friendly place where you know a lot of people, and can’t wait to meet more?

Wherever you are with the quality of followers, you can always develop your skills.

How To Get Better Quality of Followers

Although it may be tempting to only talk to the people who you already know from outside of Twitter, that would be defeating the whole purpose! It’s great to develop NEW relationships and contacts, and here are a few ways that you can do it.

  • Send either direct message or @Replies to other people’s questions. Solve their problems!  If someone solves an issue for you, they feel grateful and they want to give back to you. This is a perfect time to generate reciprocity and make a new friend.
  • If a person posts a link that you find interesting, go and read it! If it’s a blog they run, post in the comments that you found them on Twitter, and then send them on a message saying that you’ve just commented on their blog. They will race to read it, as people LOVE comments!
  • When a person you wish to get to know posts something great, make sure to Re-Tweet it. When you post a Re-Tweet, you are saying publicly that you approve of that person’s content. As a result, this is a great way to make new friends!

Why Quantity of Followers May STILL be Important

Even though having quality interactions with fellow tweeters is important, quantity may still be a concern. For one thing, it increases the number of people who are notified every time you send out a message. Sometimes I get replies from people who I haven’t really known, and who found my tweets to be of interest to them. They may tell me something I didn’t know or that would have taken me a long time to figure out.

Other times when browsing your own stream of tweets, you can be notified quicker about current events, or changes in your industry. Many of the people who are tweeting about hypnosis are continually providing new articles that can increase your skill level or develop your competencies. If you find ONE new technique that helps you to work better with a client that you are seeing, isn’t it worth it to take the time to develop your Twitter account?

Get Started Today

On all ideas it’s important to take action and to have them work for you. If you don’t already have an account, then create one and make sure to Follow Me when you do, as it’s always great to meet new friends. I hope you’ve gotten something good out of this article, and let me know if you’re using Twitter and how successful you are with it!

How To Do Self Hypnosis

This is the light switch technique: a self hypnosis how to.

You may already have a way that you do self hypnosis, but this is a great self hypnosis induction that you can use that I’ve found to be very effective. The other day I was at a hypnosis training, and one of the things we did was a very effective technique called the light switch. It’s great for instant self hypnosis.

Here are the steps:

  1. Imagine that you have two big bundles of wires coming down from your brain, and that the wires then split off and go into every nerve and fiber of your body.
  2. One bundle of wires goes and controls all of the core functions of your body, like your blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing. We’ll leave that bundle alone. And the other bundle connects to every single voluntary muscle and nerve in your body, so that if you were to shut off power to that second bundle, all of your nerves would relax instantly!
  3. Now lift up the index finger of your left hand, and imagine under that index finger is a light switch that will either turn off or on that entire bundle of voluntary muscles and nerves. Right now that light switch is in the ON position.
  4. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and go into a light state of hypnosis.
  5. To deepen your trance, turn off that light switch, and allow all of those muscles and nerves to relax completely, as if all of the electrical power had just been cut off.

You may even want to imagine what it is like when the power suddenly goes off in your building. Feel that feeling of complete and total darkness, and have that happen every time that you switch that light switch off. This is one of the best self hypnosis techniques out there.

Now, one of the best ways to do this technique is to get someone into hypnosis using for example the Dave Elman Induction, or using your instant induction techniques (such as the ones in the “TRANCED OUT” home study course) and then to give the suggestion of the light switch being there, and right as they turn off the switch you lower your voice and guide them even deeper into it.

Ideally you’ll test and go back and forth a few times, so the person can do self hypnosis very effortlessly, without having to have additional self hypnosis training. Go test this out and let me know what you think, in the comments.
